The BBC’s adaptation of Great Expectations stripped the heart out of Charles Dickens, screenwriter Andrew Davies has said.
Mr Davies, who wrote the BBC’s acclaimed adaptations of Bleak House and Little Dorrit, says the Christmas adaptation “didn’t feel like Dickens” because it lacked humour.
